Native to the Caribbean coastal region of South America and a cousin of the better-known Frangipani tree. Unlike its cousin, this shrub is semi-evergreen and may keep its foliage in winter depending on the average temperature of its environs.

Show off this beauty as a specimen accent alone or as an anchor for low-growing plants such as Liriope, Regina Iris, King's Mantle Thunbergia and Texas Sage. High salt tolerance makes it ideal for coastal gardens. Feed with a slow-release 14-14-14 granular fertilizer every three months starting in early spring, with last feeding by end of October. A hard prune by one-half at end of winter will promote new growth and blooms in spring.
