Pilea peperomioides

Pilea - Sharing Plant

Evergreen perennial native to Sichuan and Yunnan provinces of China. Folklore has it that a Norwegian missionary in the 1940s passed on cuttings to friends, who in turn shared them with other people, hence its moniker. The genus name is from the Latin 'pileus', or 'felt cap', an apt description of its petals.
