Genus is native to Lord Howe Island off Australia and named after William Forster, an Australian politician. Kentia is the most elegant of all palms and always the preferred palm for that classic look.

Best as a potted plant in both outdoor and indoor gardens. Indoors, water deeply no more than once weekly, let soil dry out between watering. Feed with a slow-release 14-14-14 granular fertilizer every three months. Trim off any wilted foliage to maintain an attractive appearance. After some time indoors, rotate to outdoors to let plant rejuvenate.
