Dwarf-leaf specie of the Florida native, Clusia rosea (commonly called Autograph Tree and Pitch Apple). Seeds of the apple-like fruit contain a black resin similar to pitch (asphalt), once used to coat the seams of boats. Fruit attracts wildlife such as turtles and birds.
